Welcome to Diane's Bucket List Blog!

When I turned 50, a few months ago, I decided that at some point in my life, I had stopped dreaming of doing big things. I felt fairly content with my life, but had no more hopes or dreams. Nothing to reach for. Nothing to dream on.

Mind you, this is SO NOT ME! I've always had lists and so many dreams. Perhaps, I had completed most of my dreams, or put them to the side. Things like parasailing, traveling, going in a glider, adopting children. Those were big dreams and I've checked them off my list.

What more is there to life? So much! I just needed to create a new Bucket List!

Went Ziplining in Mexico!

Well.  I really do like ziplining.  It was fabulous!  Up at about 2,000 feet zipping through the trees at Selvatica.  Wahoo!  I also went in a two person speed boat as fast as we could go in Cancun.  What a blast.  I was the driver.  Time to live life to the fullest now that my last is out of the nest.

What's next in my future?  I want to get to Egypt and Africa soon for the pyramids and a safari soon.

Add to the bucket list

I've decided to do the zip line at Park City in August.  I was too afraid to do it last time that I was there with Juanita and Oksana and I am going to be just fine with it this time.  I went with Juanita on a short zipline at Snowbird a couple of years ago and love, love, loved it.  Too fun! So, time to saddle up and get over my fear of heights and going fast up high.  Yipee, kie yie yay!

Update on my hcg diet

Well, it's been quite a while since I've blogged.  I've been busy working on my health and weight.  I've lost 16 pounds thus far on hcg since I began on March 9th.  I'm proud of that number and I have felt happy with it, frustrated with it as well.  I look back and realize that I was silly to take a planned interruption.  It's been really difficult to get back mentally on track with it.

I finally decided this afternoon to do a load day today and tomorrow and see if I can get myself physically and mentally back on track.

I've had some frustrations at home.  Namely, my adopitve 17 year old daughter.  Over the entire spring break of nearly 11 days, I didn't see her.  Not only that, but she took my blow dryer from my home on the first day of the first week!  I was very upset about her "taking" that.  She is nasty, steals, lies, throws tantrums when she is caught in her lies.  I am counting down the days until she turns 18 and I can legally have her leave my home.

That doesn't help with my mental state of mind of centering myself for the things that I desire to do.  It takes so much energy with her.

I am working on my home to get it ready to sell in a year from now.  I just have a tiny bit to paint in my dining room and then some wood work as well on the main floor.  I'll be changing out all of the interior doors (one down - 6 to go) and redoing the wood floors and doing some updating on my bathroom.  Lots of work, but I will enjoy the results when they are done and hopefully, get value from my elbow grease.

Off to bed!

Waiting for HcG to get here!

One of the largest things on my bucket list is to release 100 pounds of me.  I don't need it anymore to protect me.  I'm all grown up and pray to handle my issues without the crutch of food anymore.

What's HcG?  It's a hormone that can be either injected (ouch... not doing that!) or can take sublingually (that's more like it Batman!).  Add in a low calorie diet and it unlocks that fat from the places that you want to lose it.  Dr. Simeons is the one to come up with it many, many years ago.  It's just gotten popular in the US the last few years.  He wrote a paper called Pounds and Inches with his protocol.

I ordered it last Friday and I understand that it's now being shipped.  So, it's just the waiting game right now.

Working on my house.  Putting in a new closet door tonight.  That's to be able to sell my home when the time comes to move to Florida (on my bucket list).

I do have a fun Turkey Shoot tomorrow morning!  Lots of orange clay pigeons being flung into the air with us trying to shoot them out of the sky.  What more fun can be had than that, I ask you?

This weekend projects

Not really much from my written bucket list to cross off, but I did pick all of the fairies and stars off of my extra bedroom's ceiling on Friday night.  Saturday, off to Zumba class.  For those who don't Zumba yet, it's a great exercise class of lots of high energy latin dancing.  Great fun and more like a party than exercise.  Burns loads of calories too.  Part of my bucket list to is to get to my goal weight and to run a marathon.  This certainly helps on those two scores.

After finishing Zumba, I did a mystery shop for the largest fast food restaurant chain and then bought paint, rollers, etc. to paint the ceiling in that spare bedroom.  It was a lovely blue with clouds, but it was time for a change up on that room from young girl's to more of a guest room/office for me.  After painting one coat, I was off to IKEA to buy a new rug for the room and a few extra touches to make it more up-to-date.

I have a guest coming on Friday night and didn't want the room to look quite so shabby.

Same night, I sat down and pounded out the songs for our church's young people's singing time, second coat on the ceiling and then a quick shower and off to bed.  Whew!

I did work with the dogs on their jumping for agility over the weekend and they are loving it.  Dear Jacques tried to go under the bar and promptly knocked the bar off.  Dear doggy!

Tiny Steps

Just some tiny steps to some of my bucket list goals.  Yesterday, when I took my standard poodle, Jacques, and my portugese water dog, Tristan, for a walk, I jogged about a fourth of the time. How did it feel?  Ok.  Not too bad.

Another on my bucket list to to teach my dogs agility.  Tristan takes to the jumping like a duck on a pond.  Jacques, on the other hand, doesn't get into the jumping as much as I would have thought.  They did stand by the jump at about 9pm last night and wanted me to play with them so more.  I had a bag of treats (always a great incentivizer!) and I would have them sit and stay on one side of the jump while I hopped over, somewhat gracefully, and then had them come to me for their treat.  They thought that was great fun!  I'll keep raising the bar until it's at the regulation level.

Towards my weight goal?  I ate my calories for the day (1,600) and went on that 30 minute walk.

First Day Posting About My Bucket List

A friend suggested that I write a blog about my new bucket list. So, here I am blogging away publicly about my new bucket list.

Well, you see, I used to have a Bucket List and I've done just about all of those things on my list. What were they, you say? Things like taking a glider flight. Not only did I take one, but it was spur of the moment while I was on vacation in Scotland at the Deeside Glider Club. Iit was on a gorgeous, clear (almost unheard of in Scotland) day. I was making my way to the Burnett family castle and saw a sign that said, "Deeside Glider Club". I turned a quick U-turn, paid a fee and had the most lovely time flying quietly in the air with a quirky glider pilot from Scotland. The heather was in bloom and you could almost taste the sweetness of it. Sad thing?  My batteries in my camera stopped working just before we went up.

What else? I've traveled to so many places that start with "I". India, Indonesia, Italy, Ireland and Isreal. Other places? New Zealand, Australia, Macau, Hong Kong, Singapore, Ukraine, all over Europe with just a few exceptions. I've hiked the beautiful Alps in Switzerland, gone sailing in Fiji, spent 18 months on an LDS mission in Venezuela and adopted two daughters from Ukraine. This parenting thing has stretched me further than I could have ever imagined!

I've worked on a cruise ship in the Caribbean, gone hot air ballooning twice, bought a home all on my own and have been improving it ever since. I've seen many ancient wonders of the world like Machu Pichu in Peru, walked in the steps of Jesus in Isreal, and eaten Guinea Pig in Ecuador.

So, now those are finished. What else to do in my life?  I had sort of forgotten how to dream with all of the intense parenting that I've been doing the past 10 years. They are nearly grown now and it's time for me to begin to dream big again.

Things like running a full marathon. You now ask, "do you even run Diane?" Errr. No. I don't. (chortle, chortle) But, the question is that if I don't dream big, how can I ever begin?

So, I've posted my current Bucket List to the left and will be working on each thing, piece by piece.
